Kastro (from the north)
History/Description:
I have been unable to find any reference to this castle in the textbooks I have. It is in the shape of a very rough quadrangle with large towers at the E. and W. ends..
It lies to the south of the main road/rail route from Kyparissia across Messenia to Kalamata, and can be seen from both train and the car (around Dori). From Meligalas, take the road to Neochori, then towards Mila. There's a road on the right that takes you to Kastro, which has just one or two houses and the castle. Road Editions 1:150,000 map of Messenia may help.
